An update on this video below…
Bundaberg Regional Council has been forced to apologise after a video was posted on Facebook apparently showing council officers letting a dog out of its front yard and closing the gate on it.
The video provoked a storm of criticism on social media.
The officers were conducting a dog registration survey in the region. In the video the dog is shown greeting the council officers at the gate.
One of them pats the dog and it walks past him and out the gate.
The officer looks down the road after it and then apparently walks back into the yard and closes the gate.
But it’s ok you guys because after the officers let the dog out, they chased it. Well, maybe they chased it.
Peta Merritt witnessed the whole debacle as she was driving down the street.
She said she noticed three council workers in their uniform entering yards to check dog registrations.
“I finished having a coffee with a friend and I noticed the same people at a property, (I) didn’t think much of it until the dog scooted out of the property and was running,” Mrs Merritt said.
“I nearly hit the dog and the car (in) front of me. I was distracted and couldn’t focus 100 per cent on driving; I’m still a little shooken (sic) up from the incident.
“I continued home expecting the people responsible for letting the dog out would fetch it, until I saw the footage and was shocked to see that the male council worker wasn’t trying to get the dog back.”
Either way, luckily the dog is home safe. And while a Council spokesperson called the incident ‘unfortunate’, he was quick to point out the dog was unregistered so, whatever. Everyone can just go away now.
There is no excuse to go roaming into other people’s properties just to look at registrations. They should check to see if the owners are there first. Otherwise it is tresspassing on private property.
I should also like to mention, speaking of dogs, that because of a politician in Bundaberg who ignored ALL THE SUBMISSIONS AGAINST THE CRAZY BREED SPECIFIC LEGISLATION LAWS, QUEENSLAND and Queenslanders are still stuck with these stupid, ridiculous and un-workable regulations.
