From Fetching Dogs…
Two Hearts Beat The Same.
For so long, many have fought for equality. Whether it be about race, gender, sexual orientation, and a myriad of other ignorant reasons. But so many still aren’t aware that some breeds of dogs are often seized, impounded, and killed… based only on their appearance.
In Australia, we have something called Breed Specific Legislation – a model that is supposed to keep the community safe from ‘dangerous dogs’ but has no scientific backing and, actually, has been proven to fail across the world. The worst of this can be seen in Victoria, where family dogs, who have done nothing wrong, are regularly taken away from their loved ones to be killed.
No dog is inherently aggressive. Pit Bulls aren’t, Staffies aren’t, Rottweilers aren’t, Chihuahuas aren’t. But yet, dogs deemed as ‘Pit Bull Types’ are judged solely on the way they look and given a death sentence.
Just recently, Darebin Council spent $92,000 of YOUR money pursuing an innocent dog. Not because she had attacked anyone or anything. Not because she was a danger to the community. But because they didn’t like the look of her. And this is just one single case (which the Supreme Court overruled). There are many more, costing you even more.
A dog is a dog is a dog. Each has their own traits and quirks, personalities and behaviours. While they all look different on the outside, they are the same on the inside.
Their hearts beat the same.
Join us by advocating and educating the public about all dogs and Breed Specific Legislation. Get the word out that this type of discrimination is happening in our country and across the world. We have a chance to stand up and protect our dogs – our family.
To join the cause, please visit Who’s The Bully?, Communityk9, and Australians Against BSL. Consider supporting Fetching Dogs as we strive to advocate for ALL dogs and save them from the misinformed, who wield their needles without remorse.

Thanks to Ruthless Photos for helping with this and making it possible for this photo to be made available as a poster. We’ll be selling them at our stall at Fair Day, which kicks off the Sydney Mardi Gras season, Sunday 10th February to raise money so we can continue to save these maligned breeds.
