Now we know shelters killing pets is a choice, and that hundreds of communities, and thousands of pounds, shelters and rescue groups around the world are no longer using killing to manage their shelter populations, and that the recipe for success is available and has been for more than two decades – the best tool for change we have as animal advocates, is ourselves and our support.
We get what we pay for. We give hundreds of millions of dollars annually to animal welfare charities because we want to see pets protected, and their lives valued. We deserve an animal management system which reflects our pet loving nation.
These are the RSPCA national figures released this week. Before you go Walking, ask yourself “am I happy with this result, and is this how I want to see my money used?”
If it isn’t, find an organisation who more accurately reflects your values, and direct your support there.
Once they had a mission to protect and give a voice to those who had none, the animals.
They are so big, so de-sensitized, so removed from the front lines and their original mission statement. They have become the enemy, the hated, the killers and takers of loved ones lives.
